“I pretty much keep it simple. There are things that I’m nuts about, like the shampoo and moisturizer I use, but aside from that it’s pretty bare bones. In the morning I wash my face with Cetaphil, which is the most simple cleanser ever. I use Amore Pacific moisturizer. My friend Jeanine Lobell introduced me to that line and it’s incredible. Then I use the Chanel Teint Innocence compact foundation just to cover spots, and TONS of mascara—Chanel Inimitable Intense. At night I’ll do the bottom lashes too and make crazy spider legs. It takes me at least ten minutes every day to put on my mascara. Ten minutes, literally—I paint each lash. I’d never do lash extensions though; too fussy. Anything that requires maintenance I don’t do—like I’d love to color my hair but realistically I’m not going every two months to get root touch ups; that’s not happening. So then I’ll do a bit of rouge, it’s this pink Chanel one. I used to use brownish rouge and Jeanine was like, ‘No, don’t use brown, it picks up discoloration in your skin,’ so I started using pink. I use a lot of Chanel makeup—I love the packaging, I love the color palette, it just works the best for me. But I also love MAC Ruby Woo, I’ve been wearing it forever. It doesn’t move—Ruby Woo will not leave your mouth. I can eat steak and mashed potatoes and it’s still there. And I just started using this Shu Uemura lip liner, just their red, and it’s amazing. For evening, NARS and Chanel have these cream eye shadows, Chanel’s are in a bottle, and I’ll use a bronze or a gold or silver and just smudge it on. I love them. I wear Chanel ‘Beige’ fragrance most of the time, but another thing I started doing is wearing Old Spice deodorant. Every man I’ve ever loved wears Old Spice…I love the smell of it.

For my hair, I strictly use René Furterer. I used to use J.F. Lazartigue as well but [C.O.] Bigelow stopped carrying them. Now I don’t know where to find it, and it’s too weird for me to order shampoo off the internet. My hair’s pretty straight so sometimes at night if I have time, I’ll put it up into two buns when it’s still wet and use Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, spritz it, let it dry and take it down, and that’s my hairdo. I call them my ‘Party Buns’. I’ve had friends come over before we go out and they’re like, ‘You look like Björk, you’re not going out like that.’ And I’m like, ‘No, these are my Party Buns!’

I’m really lucky because I’m a photo agent and a stylist agent so I’m always on shoots with makeup artists and hairdressers and I love beauty and hearing about people’s tricks and tips. For instance Frank B., he told me about the Shu Uemura lip liner. Whenever I’m on set with someone I’m like, [whispers] ‘Tell me a trick!’ Like Dennis Lanni, he’s been cutting my hair for eight or nine years, and he taught me how to do my Party Buns. I can’t deal with going into a salon so I just hi-jack a haircut. I text him and say, ‘Are you shooting this week?’ And he’ll say, ‘Yeah, come by the studio,’ so I’ll go after whatever shoot he’s doing. He’s great because he’s not fussy—he just gives me the perfect ‘nothing’ haircut.

I go to Christine Chin every six weeks or so for a facial. I rotate between her and Ingrid, but Ingrid’s really my main chick and I’ll see Christine every three or four times. You go there and get hardcore extractions. And that’s the only thing that’s ever worked for my skin. I had really great skin my whole life until my early 20’s when it really broke out. And Christine Chin is the only thing I’ve done that’s fixed it. They squeeze every single pore. And for days afterward you look insane, but a week later you look like…Gisele. [Laughs] Another thing that I do religiously—I’m so scared of looking matte so I always mist my face with something, like Jurlique Citrus Purifying Mist. My greatest fear is to look matte.

I just went to Valley on Elizabeth and saw Maki who does Sally [Singer’s] nails. I got a red manicure with burgundy, bronzy glitter. I was too scared to experiment with the gel. But usually I go to Spazio on Mott Street and see this woman Joanna. She’s really, really, really good. In a perfect world I would go to Joanna and get my nails painted red and then I’d go to Maki and get the design. There’s this place in LA called C T Nails, it’s across the street from Whole Foods in West Hollywood, they do the best airbrushing in the whole entire world. Layered stars, crosses, flames, skulls, Chanel symbols, everything you could imagine. He could even airbrush the baby toenail. I call him Genius but his name’s Peter. If you ever go in there and ask for Genius, then he’ll know you’re my friend.”

“I’m not going to pretend I’m low maintenance because I’m not low maintenance! I have a pretty natural look for day, but I mix things up at night—I always tend to do a cat-eye situation. I love the MAC liquid eyeliner because it’s easy to apply. I’m not very good at makeup so I stick to eyeliner and a lip. Dior does great reds—#752 is my go-to. It’s really bright…I don’t go too dark on the lips; it doesn’t look good with my skin tone. And I love the Tom Ford lipsticks. The color range is amazing—I need them all. I only have two so far but my collection is growing. Ginger Fawn is my favorite. I’ve been really into orange lipsticks lately as opposed to red, and I like matte formulas—I’m not a big fan of gloss or glitter. That being said, I love Dior’sShimmer Powder in the tan color. It’s not too bronze-y and not too blush-y. Everyone who comes over and uses it winds up buying it.

I don’t really wear foundation; I use concealer.Guinot made the best spot concealer in the entire world—it’s my sacred bottle, they discontinued it. All my friends know about my little tube of concealer and how it’s off limits to them. When it finishes my life will be over. I also have dark circles so I’m always trying to find the best thing to fight them. I love the Garnier Eye Roller—it has caffeine and minerals in it plus coverage—it’s just a drugstore thing. I put it under my eyes before Laura Mercier Secret Concealer. I actually use a lot of drugstore products—I love the Revlon Just Bitten lip stains—I have every single color. I’m a big fan of lip stains as opposed to lipsticks for the daytime, just because I feel like it’s a little more natural and easier to maintain. For mascara, I’m all about Diorshow Blackout. And an eyelash curler is my best friend—the Shu Uemura. If I could take one beauty product to a desert island, it’d be that. I feel like it just changes everything. I have pretty long lashes so sometimes I’ll just curl them and skip mascara and that’s enough.

I wash my face with a basic Neutrogena cleanseror a Dior exfoliator, then I do a spritz of the Evian mineral water spray which I’ve used for many years. The Bliss masks save my life all the time…there’s one called Steep Clean, I do it once a month and it just cleans out all your pores and prevents breakouts. And the other one I love is the Oxygen Mask which is great for when I’m exhausted, it’s a pick-me-up. I also love Embryolisse cream, it’s a staple for when my skin is very dry. I designed a limited-edition blotting paper for Dior—I don’t like powder because it’s cakey but I have a problem with oil and shine, so blotting paper is the best solution for me. And have you tried Dior’s Crystal Nudecompact? It’s incredible—it’s a mattifying gel that has the same effect as powder. It looks like a balm. So it’s perfect for when you don’t want to look blotchy or cakey.

For my hair, I use any shampoo—right now I’m using Herbal Essences. I really like the Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious shampoo and conditioner too, and the Kérastase hair masksfor when my hair is super tangled and dry in the summer. But to be honest I’ve just been using the Herbal Essences and letting it air dry wavy. Sometimes, if it’s looking really dead, I’ll use the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. I get highlights once a year and let them grow out; I like it super blond at the bottom. I go to Johnny Ramirez atNeil George Salon in LA. My very favorite thing is getting them done in the summer and then going in the ocean and sun so the tips get bleach bleach blond.

I have an unhealthy obsession with nail art. It started when I went to C T nails in LA. It was the first nail art experience I’ve had and my life hasn’t been the same since. And then I foundSakura in New York, where they do CalGel, so not only do you get a crazy design, it also lasts for three weeks or more. My nails always peel or break and the CalGel helps them grow out longer. There’s another place, in SoHo, calledMarie Nails which is also amazing. That’s where I go now, but they were all booked this time so I went to Sakura and got this whole tropical situation for a trip to Brazil. I’ve done pretty much everything: full rhinestones on every single nail; I did a rainbow French which has actually been my favorite so far. I’ve done a Christmas theme, a Halloween theme, you name it. It’s fun coming up with things to do. For example, I knew this time I wanted fruit, and they happened to have little stickers, so I got lucky, but most of the time I have a really exact idea.

I just recently started doing the Power-Platework out. You do a whole routine while standing on a vibrating platform. It’s obviously a fad that I’ve fallen for, but I’m fully into it. Every 1 crunch equals 2 crunches when you’re on the plate, type of thing. So after 30 minutes of it you leave and you’re in such pain, that it must work?”

Forget Bergdorf, Saks and etc, nothing beats a trip to Target. There I bought two movies that needed to to be added to my collection of fashion films, "Coco Avant Chanel" and "September Issue". Right now I am watching bonus features of the latter and the Great, Andre Leon Talley obviously steals any scene, and thats besides the stature or title of Vogue's Editor-at-Large.

It takes less than two seconds to see that this Larger than Life personality, erases any preconceived notion someone might have of the type of person that would hold this high ranking job title in this industry. He's no Wintour-bot! And that enjoyment he still garners resonates through his booming voice even after all these years, behind the scenes, always bringing the LOLs

DAY 2:

Went to the attic and found this great (tiny) piece of cut velvet, looks so pretty in light, changes colors. Wanted big sleeves a la Stevie Nicks but momma isn't a magician so she did what she could. She's the best! I attempted to cut the fabric (seeing as this trait really needs to be carried on) using the pattern and weights and I still managed to screw up, it looked pretty special. Clearly, the gene was not passed on but I'll keep at it. I wish I never stopped sewing, considering I made my first "dress" (techinically, I suppose it was one; probably for a stripper or someone allergic to too much coverage) when I was 6.

& black fitted forever 21 bustier top, anyone who knows me knows that this will be a whole of bubby (Real Housewives of Jersey version of saying boobs/boobys/tits/tittays ya you get the picture) showing for moi

& old levi shorts tucked over

I find this outfit a bit blehhhhhh but whateves it'll be super comfy and when you're in 100 + degree weather that's all that really matters

DAY 3:

My beautiful vintage find that I still haven't showcased, reminded me of Missoni the first time I laid eyes on it! And of the vest that Miss Ashley O wore, which I believe was actual Missoni!

Yesterday, I went to the goodwill on beverly and as OCD organized as it is, there really wasn't anything calling my name. Either was it doing it for my friend. BUT i did find a old tan camera case that I have been meaning to look for, as a sort of purse. Best part it actually came with a camera all for $20, maybe it'll work and I can take it with me on my trip to COLOMBIA in july!!! aka motherland, 1st trip there....

My sincerest apologies to all my readers for my absence- HAHAHA who am i kidding? - pretty sure I have three people reading this(Hey Sarah, Jen and Sherry)- and maybe not even that. Jesus, just humour me!

I was in Paris to study abroad for a month and went to Spain and Italy for 2 weeks after that. A M A Z I N G
Withdrawls of being back are still there, I sound like a user but seriously its true!
Came back and had serious detox time of bread, alcohol and FROMAGE. Then finally found an internship, BLAH Blah blahhhhhhh
I'll talk more about that lata

Typed a list this year of resolutions and NO, exercsing wasn't the only thing on it. I had serious,meaningful ones like "WTF should I do w/ my life-grad or fashion school? travel? move to nyc?- shit like that" That was placed last since its kinda big, you know? But this blog was something that I've seriously been lagging on and since I enjoy to write and can't get enough of clothes sounded like the perfect outlet!

Anywho, turned 21 for the third time and wanted something I wouldn't normally wear to go out so a Jumpsuit came in mind!
The Stella McCartney lace number that she got so much shit for, worn to the CFDA event was up for debate. But my mom and I- the prodigy seamstress( my term of endearment)- Hello, thats name of the blog, wake up- decided to go with this...

We went to El Carmen's on third for dinner, was hesitant about saying the name, fearing it will get popular and trendy and become a place of staring contests(thats what I refer to trendy places in LA where no one parties/dances but just looks everyone up and down, seeing whos who) But then woke the fuck up and remembered no one reads this ish! Great Mexican bar with luchadora masks aligning the ceiling with other spectacular decor including the wall with old spanish maxim-esque clippings as the wallpaper. A great vibe of all types of people with guest appearances of uber cute boys(on shortage this night, that would happen) and the jukebox has rock and other music that comes in Spanish i.e Elvis and rolling stones!! Not to mention the margs that are to D I E (thanks zoe) for!

Alwaysss toyed with the idea of getting my nose pierced.
Three things have stopped me:
1)Not liking it/ never been a fan of my nose, so I thought it would attract unwanted attention to my less than desirable feature
2) the PAIN..duh
I'm horrible with needles, still get teary eyed when I get shots/ blood drawn (I'm 22, I know so sad)
3) My dad potentially disowning me.
He's never had a problem with what I wear, he often compliments or offers advice when my mom has made me something; hence the name of the title.

So the idea has once again re-emerged, instead of getting a stud and running the risk of looking like I have an oversized pimple! I'm thinking of going the ring route and no not the one that goes in between the nostrils, I really don't want to give my father a heart attack. i.e

The best weekend of the entire year is only a day away and I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight with the amount of excitement I have pumping in my blood.

Every year the girls and I have too much fun planning our Coachee (thats our term of endearment, feel free to use it) outfits. I mean we're talking full on wardrobe discussions and styling ideas, the whole kit n' caboodle (don't think I've ever used that phrase before in my life haha)

Here's my game plan:
Day 1

I've been DYING for military type jackets and vest, initially wanted it in red but trying to find a nice shade of it in velvet included a day of my momma and I browsing 40524095 stores in downtown.

Obsessed with the black and white tights from the Chanel autumn/winter 2008-9 collection (Thanks Karl), but since I don't have an unlimited budget that was never going to happen : ( But I was just as elated when I came upon a pair of two-tone tights at Urban Outfitters this past December, wore them to school and got all sorts of puzzled looks (typical lollz)

I've been craving a vintage denim jacket foreverrrrrr, and its always on my mind when rummaging through landfills of clothes at flea markets; still determined. Wish me luck tomorrow at my favorite store/shopping event- Jet Rag is a vintage store on highland off of la brea that has $1 clothes dumped all over their parking lot, where you're likely to run into everyone from the leggy model type to the bum needing new accessories to put in his cart.

Even though the majority of this blog is fashion and all things alike, this story has blown my mind.

Beverly Eckert,one of the 49 people that died after a continental plane crashed into a house in Buffalo, New York; ironically was a widow of one of the 9/11 victims. She was a major voice for the families and friends that fell victim to the terrorist attacks. She even met with Obama last week to discuss his new policies on handling terrorist suspects.

The reason for Eckert's trip to Buffalo was to celebrate her late husband's birthday, Sean Rooney.

Here's to Eckert being reunited with her loved one, wherever that may be...

Now that the girls have grown up into such fashion mavericks (couldn't help myself- Thanks Palin) they always keep me inspired with their evolutionary style.

My name is Annabel and have finally made up my mind to test the waters of blogging! Especially since my two friends (Sarah & Sherry- Haayyyy gurls) have joined, I decided it was time to embark on this journey. I'm very religious about checking my blogs each and everyday, thanks to bloglovin'(which keeps all of them in order- Fashiontoast, Knightcat, etc) so making one of my own just kinda made sense.
